Jeff Hendrix

Master Teacher in Luigi Jazz Technique

Jeff Hendrix has a Master of Fine Arts in Dance from U.C. Irvine with a focus on choreography and videography. Luigi was a mentor to Jeff (considered his #1 son from Texas :) at the famed Luigi Jazz Center in the 1980s. He also trained extensively with Rhett Dennis, Stanley Hall and Dennon Rawles. Performance credits include “A ChorusLine”, “Anything Goes”, “Guys and Dolls” and “Oklahoma”. Luigi referred Jeff to teach at the Nat Horn Studio (NYC), New Jersey Ballet , Ballet Russe de Montreal and Svetlova Dance Center (Vermont). International choreography and teaching also includes Columbo (Zurich), Schutz Ballet (Vienna), Okomoto Ballet (Japan), Maui Academy of Performing Arts, Bermuda Academy of Ballet and Austin Ballet Theatre. Jeff currently teaches dance at California State University Dominguez Hills, as well as several community colleges in L.A. and Orange Counties. He frequently choreographs and performs regularly in jazz, tap, salsa and swing pieces. Credits this year include choreographer for “Cabaret” at Pasadena City College, “Pura Vida” (Latin Jazz) for Long Beach City College and “Suite Sondheim” (Jazz and Tap) for CSUDH, adjudicated at the American College Dance Association (ACDA) Conference at U.C. Irvine.

 

He recently taught at the Jazz Dance Teacher’s Conference at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Jeff continues to train with Jazz Antiqua and is proud to promote the “Luigi Jazz Technique Teacher Certification.”
